It is almost time for Christmas in July. So why not celebrate by flashing back to Christmas in December? I can hardly remember the details, thank goodness for pictures!
There are lots of highlights so I will keep my explanations short and the pictures plentiful.
We had the Freeze Christmas the 3rd weekend of December.
On Christmas Eve we made cookies for Santa and the girls put out reindeer food in the rain. Lillian thought this was hilarious to throw food and glitter on the lawn.
We went to church with the Murrays and had a great dinner at the Kings.
Then it was home to set out cookies for Santa!
Christmas morning came early. Santa left lots of goodies! Of course Hattie got a Christmas bone. I am sad to say that Hattie won't be with us next Christmas. She passed away on April 17th. She was the sweetest dog ever.
Poppy and Nonni gave the girls canopies that we have since hung above their beds. Now they sleep like princesses.
I should probably write another post just to explain why we got a hamster. Adeline really wanted a bunny from Santa but he had told her that a bunny was too much trouble to deliver. SO I thought a hamster would be a great alternative. Luke and I were not in agreement on this. After a LOT of debating and discussing he finally gave in. Yukon Cornelieus "Charlie" Murray joined us on Christmas afternoon. I am proud to report that he is still with us and I am officially the only one who plays with him or cleans his cage. Just me and Charlie.
Moving right along....Adeline had her first sleep over. Lillian really wanted to be a part of it, I can't blame her. She only stayed in the room with the big kids a short while after this picture was taken.
New Years at the beach!
We made a trip to Greensboro for my Uncle Steven's funeral. Parks was kind enough to stay with Lillian. I was able to get this cute picture of the 2 blue eyed girls.
The start of the New Year meant the start of baby watch! We were all so excited to meet the newest addition to the family!
And then John Emmett Freeze arrived. He is adorable and the best little cousin and nephew anyone could ask ever for. Adeline truly feels like God gave her Emmett as a gift, which we know He did, but a gift for all of us.
Emmett has his own Flickr account where they are posting all their pictures.
Adeline also started riding lessons this year. Here she is with Angel, one of her favorite horses to ride.
Daddy Daughter Dance.
An afternoon at the NC Art Museum park.
When Adeline was born my Aunt Loui gave us her doll Louise, fully redone and as good as new. Well, still very fragile, which is why I keep her on a shelf up where they cannot reach her. Or so I thought. This was the day that they found a way to climb up and bring her down. I am happy to report that they handled her with great care.
She is just cute.
100 Days of Kindergarten means you get to dress like you are 100 years old. You know how I love a costume!
The girls just being silly.
We took the girls skiing for the first time! It was so fun. Not sure if either is that comfortable on skis after the morning on the slopes but they at least know what to expect now.
Adeline at Jackie's baby shower
Rainy day idea: If you put 1 big sock around both of your feet you will look like a mermaid.
Helpful tip: Be very careful walking if you put one sock on both your feet.
Snow! With the 100 degree days it is hard to believe that we ever had snow! Flash back to February...
Adeline's school has "Character Awards". This was the banquet where she won the award for kindness.
Can't get enough of Emmett. Here he is around 2 months. We were all in Greensboro for Doc's birthday.
Lillian turned 4 in April, on Good Friday. I'm not really sure how time has flown by this fast. How in the world is she 4?! We were able to celebrate at school and with family all Easter weekend.
There was an Easter egg hunt during the weekend and a neighborhood garden tour.
This was her class party in June that I used as cover for her birthday party. They only way I know to avoid people bringing gifts is to not tell them it is a birthday party. Worked out perfectly!
Easter Sunday
Meanwhile...back at school...Adeline kept losing teeth. Her teacher was even able to pull her tooth out at our house one afternoon when she stopped by to drop off something.
Adeline and Luke ran in a race at their Indian Princess weekend and she also ran in the Boosterthon!
I mentioned earlier that we had to put Hattie to sleep this spring. Here she is with the girls before we had to say goodbye.
Adeline was a carrot in the Kindergarten music program.
Lillian. She has come out of her little shell and FULL of personality. She is still sleeping in strange places and her outfits are getting more outrageous. She is my sunshine.
One of my favorite parts of the day was the walk to get Adeline. One day Lillian insisted on taking her stroller to pick Adeline up from school. Swore that she would not need me to carry it for her. Pinky promised. You see where the stroller ended up.
Luke's birthday and Mother's Day!
Just another cute picture
Mom and I got a mini-vacation! We had a night in Chapel Hill then the garden tour in Hillsborough. It was wonderful!
Riley King had a "sleepover" party with us one night. We all loved it, here they are before church.
We had the opportunity to watch Emmett the first week in June. He was preeeeeeeecious. I had to bribe Adeline to go to school and Lillian to go to camp, they both wanted to stay with E.
This same week Lillian had her dance recital. She was born to shine and loved every minute of it!
Adeline's last few days of school with her sweet friends. She had the best little group of friends and teachers.
One of our first weeks out of school and we got to meet baby Jack at the Farmers Market.
We also took a road trip to Charlotte to see my dearest college friend and her boys. I had not met her youngest and was excited to see Lillian and Wallace together. They share the same birthday, I call them birthday twins. It was a sweet visit.
Another first: Lemonade stand. I told Lillian to change for the sale and she came down in a cheerleading costume. There is only so much I can say.
The Murrays were heading to Alaska for 2 weeks so we stopped by to see them before they left town. Grabbed a cute shot of the four of them. That same day I was able to get another cute shot.
Phew. I feel like I just ran marathon that took me 6 months! I am sure I misspelled, misquoted or misplaced many pictures but I know you will still appreciate them!
