Snow Day, Fun Day!

We have not seen snow in years!  Adeline was just one when we had the last big snow so this might as well have been a "first" for her.   Definitely was for Lillian!

This was the view from Lillian's window this morning.  I opened it right after she woke up and she said "Whoa, Mama, how'd it do dat?"

Adeline looked out her window and said "Man, I'm not swinging on those swings today!"  As soon as we walked outside Adeline made a beeline to wipe the snow off the swing seats. "Just in case I do want to swing later."

Lillian was hesitant about putting on multiple layers of clothing to go outside this morning. (side note: Lillian spends most of her time naked, in her cheer leading costume, or in her ballet-o-tard. None of which seemed appropriate for a snow day.)  After much struggling we got her completely bundled up and she looked to be on the verge of tears.  She insisted on taking her mimi with her outside but almost tripped over it going down the steps. Thus the scarf.  She kept it on all day and there were no more tears!

Our street has a great hill, one that we climbed many many times today.

Snow angel.

Hot chocolate tea party!

Adeline figured out that she can eat snow after she saw some "big kids" doing it.

We sledded the snow right off our street and set  out to find another hill…Lillian promptly fell asleep.

Our sweet neighbor showing her how to sled.

After a good rest this afternoon Adeline and I set out to build a snowman.  The snow was more powder-like and not good for snowman building.  We had to fill water pitchers up and make snowballs in my mop bucket.  It was a process and extremely entertaining to all the people walking by our house this afternoon.  After 20 minutes and only a football sized ball Adeline suggested we make a smaller snowman.  She hopped up and ran inside (tracking snow all the way to her room) and came back outside presenting me with Olaf, the funny snowman from the movie Frozen.  You know I like a challenge.  She gathered the snow in the mop bucket and poured the water. I attempted to make an Olaf and according to Adeline I succeeded.  It was really cute for about 13 seconds.  Enough time to take this picture!
