With the short season between Thanksgiving and Christmas we were very busy trying get to all the festivities. I am SOOOO thankful to report that none of us were really sick this Christmas season. With the exception of a cough that lingered for Adeline and Lillian we were all free of the flu or stomach bug. A far cry form our sick December last year.
The girls had their Christmas program at school. Lillian's class was first to "preform", they sang two songs. It was adorable but Lillian was a little distracted by a nasal situation during the first song. She was belting and clapping during the second song but, of course, I did not get any pictures from that! You will have to trust me, she was precious and her finger was out of her nose.
Adeline was Mary. This was a very big deal for her. She found out that she was Mary right before Thanksgiving. Her reaction to the news was classic and i was thankful that I had videoed it with my phone…
They practiced most days so I would get a report everyday about what she was going to do. She didi a great job and took it very seriously. Even after the program many of the younger kids were coming forward to see the baby (doll) Jesus in the manger. Adeline stayed by the baby and even held it to show it off as if it was her own. It was cute.
Just a day later we headed to Disney on Ice with Spencer. Adeline loved it! Lillian, er, tolerated it for 30 mins and then used her swirly, light-up, princess baton as a weapon on the family sitting in front of us. She may have been a tad too young to sit through a 2 hour show. She loved the popcorn though!
We also had the Santa party where we got to decorate a gingerbread house. This was a ton of fun, for all of us. The girls helped me with the house for a few minutes then quickly started eating the building material. I ended up decorating most of the house by myself but I was ok with that!
A big first for Adeline…a MOVIE in the theater! And it was 3D too! She and I went on a Monday afternoon in December and we were the ONLY ones in the whole theater. She loved the whole experience, and I did too!
This was just a goofy moment. I was washing this cucumber and Adeline commented that it looked like a perfect "veggie phone". Here they are chatting on it.
The weekend before Christmas we went to Greensboro to celebrate with Doc and Teeny and spend a few nights in their new house. We took a walk to check out the neighborhood and Adeline held Booty's leash the whole time.
Lillian is currently going through a phase where she has a few favorite articles of clothing that she insists on wearing every single day. This was a Tarheel cheerleading dress day. That dress was mine when I was little, just 30 years old, she likes vintage clothing.
We also took a trip to Old Salem. Loved walking around and checking out some of the historic buildings. Of course we had to stop by the bakery too!
On our way out of town we stopped by Salem Academy to show the girls. It was closed but we did get a picture of the girls and me on the front walk. When Adeline saw the school bus, which is purple and gold, she said that she wanted to go to school there too. Purple is her favorite color.
Then back to Greensboro for a Christmas dinner, dancing and gifts.
We got back to Raleigh on the Sunday before Christmas. More pictures from Christmas coming soon...
