Adeline is 5!

So hard to believe that she is 5 years old!
We celebrated with a royal tea party.  The invitation had a Sofia the First theme but the girls were asked to come in their favorite princess dress.  Adeline wanted to be Amber from Sofia the First.  Amber is not the star of the show and sometimes has a rotten attitude so I asked Adeline why she wanted to be Amber.  She said, "because Amber has a fan." Lillian wanted to be Sofia so it all worked out nicely I think.
Here is the princess on her way to the tea party and the girls with their fans.

Sweet cousin Riley came as Baileywick, another character from the show.  He was a big hit at the party!

After the princess arrived they were treated to royal carriage rides around the circle.  The girls loooooved it.

While they waited their turn to ride in the carriage the girls ran and ran and ran.  Often chasing Luke.

Lillian took this opportunity to try on all their shoes.

Then it was time for dinner and cake!

And hugs...and tea.

A family portrait...

Is that a smile?

Doesn't she look older?

Here she is on her real birthday.  She was headed out the door and I could not help but think she grew 3  inches overnight.
Happy birthday, Ladybug!

Farewell Summer, Hello Fall

I think of the last day of summer as the day before preschool starts.  That was Labor Day this year.  Luke took Adeline dove hunting.  I had assured him that it would be a painful day, she would cry a lot, ask about the birds Mommy and Daddy, cry some more, beg to come home, and then cry some more.  Well, I was wrong.  Very wrong.  It would appear she is very comfortable in the field.
Yes, that's a dead dove.

Her partner and role model.

Our cute neighbor showing Adeline the ropes.  Yup, that's the doves head in her hand.

If I was a betting woman I would have lost a bunch of money that day.  I think she is turning into a tomboy.
On the same day we had one last hurrah at the pool.  I have avoided the icee machine all summer.  Thankfully the girls have never even asked for the icees.  But the last day of summer found me a little weak.  You see the outcome...

Next day was the start of preschool.  Adeline in the transitional Kindergarten and Lillian in the Twos.  Soooo hard to believe.

I asked them to hold up the number of fingers for each year...Lillian was confused by the question.

We are looking forward to a great year!

Soccer Season!!

Adeline had her first soccer practice a few weeks ago.  It was supposed to be a co-ed team but all the girls did not show up.  Adeline was awesome, especially since she was not happy about being the only girl.

Lillian chased the bugs that were flying around.

All worth it when you get a doughnut!
