Blowing Rock

We are still in Blowing Rock!  Here are the pictures from our first few days...we had only been there an hour and the girls wanted to go see the horse at Roomie's (a.k.a. Sharon) house.

The first day was very windy.  We spent the morning at the park.

Lillian's first attempt at the rock-climbing wall.

The girls love the rocking chairs on the porch.

Teeny set up a pretend kitchen for Adeline on the porch.  We have been living on leaf soup.

It was blistering hot on Sunday and we thought that Grandfather mountain might be the coolest place to spend the afternoon.  We were right!  Fortunately, there were NOT very many others with the same idea.

We made it to the swinging bridge but thought that it would be best to wait for Daddy (Luke) to cross over.  I am not the surest of heights and Teeny and Doc did not want to take the girls either.  Adeline did not ask to cross it...did not even know what she missed!

A trip to the zoo to see Mildred the bear.

A Sunday afternoon ice cream cone.  Hit the spot!

Doc and Adeline finished the day with a trip to the park to hear the band playing.  There were two "big girls" that were dancing and volunteered to teach Adeline a few moves.  She was really mesmerized by her pink shoes.

The 4th of July, Saturday

We went from the coast to the mountains in just a few days!  We are in Blowing Rock for the week with my parents and yesterday was the big parade and picnic.  Lillian is not quite ready for the late night with fireworks so we had a sitter come and stay with her.  But she got a wagon ride around the block before we left.

Adeline was pumped, even about the trolley ride to get there.  When we got to the picnic they made everyone stay  in the shelter because there was quarter sized hail falling out of the sky...it only lasted a minute and we began the festivities...and what a line-up it was for a 3 year old!

Balloon animal (purple poodle, of course) and face painting(butterfly, of course)...

Adeline's sandals on the right...Doc's shoes on the left...why no shoes?!

Because you can't wear shoes on the bouncy slide.

Then tattoos...bracelet making...hot dog...

astro pop with baby Spencer...

and then dancing, lots and lots...

of dancing...

Then it was time to go home.  She was a sweaty mess, but had a ball.  We watched the fireworks from the deck and Adeline's quote was "Remember I was scared of these when I was 1?"  Not anymore, there is very little she is scared of now!

The Beach!

We had the wonderful opportunity to head to the beach with Riley, Susan (SueSue), Steven(WhoWho), Nonni, and Poppy.  We had a great time and wonderful weather!  Adeline is just like her daddy, a fish. She spent the whole time in the ocean. Lillian, on the other hand, is a landlubber.  She made one solid trip to the beach where she tried her hardest to NOT let her feet touch the sand.  The next day she only made a cameo appearance and by the third day Nonni volunteered to stay at the house with her.
Here she is on day 1.  Already scoping out her sunscreen, she knows she will need it.

You see the tear stained eyes. Not a beach bum baby.

But she was happy with daddy (in the blanket and shielded from the sun and sand)

Sweet Riley read to Adeline every night.  Notice the holster and pop gun.

Adeline reeeeeeeeealy loves Riley.

Lillian had a photo shoot...she had a captive audience and her very own stage.

"Where's SueSue!?!?"

This makes me smile.  I love this precious little profile.  Look at that sweet little curl.

Morning with Nonni...

Look at that bum...

Look at those googles...

SueSue, girls and Riley (the surfer)...

The mama and mermaids...

The landlubber...

The gypsy...

Poppy and Adeline...

Nonni, Poppy and Adeline...

Nonni and the mermaid...

Raaarrrrrrr!

Yes, mama got in the water.  Usually I am just behind the camera and on the shore.

Always walking...

One last ride on the tricycle before we head home.

Batter, Batter, Swing!

Adeline had a big treat on this trip to Randleman.  Dad was asked to throw out the first pitch at the Copperheads baseball game and he took her out on the mound with him.  She was pumped!

It really was a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e!  Who says a girl can't do all the things a boy can.

Look at that form!

She is obviously so proud of that ball.

She acted like she was scared of him but she reeeeeeealy wanted to have her picture taken with the Copperhead mascot.

Watching everything BUT the game.

And of course we have to get a picture in front of the pink truck!

Doc, Teeny the girls and Booty (yes, that is the dogs name).

Happy Father's Day!

We had a wonderful Father's Day!  We went to church and lunch with Nonny and Poppy... and of course there were plenty of photo opportunities!

The girls.

Poppy and sweet Lillian.

This is random...whenever we travel the girls will nap in the car (hopefully) for a bit.  On the way to Randleman last Friday I set Lillian up for her nap and she was asleep before I hit the last stoplight in Raleigh.  She loves her blankets!

On the way home from Randleman I set Adeline up for a "Mimi" nap too but she was a little reluctant (notice the squinty eyes).

I will post the rest of the Randleman pictures tomorrow...

Messy Marvina

Our sweet Lillian is not the greatest eater.  But when she finds something she likes there is no stopping her, even with a bib.
She really loves blueberries.

And my smoothie.

We were out of town last weekend so I am a little behind on pictures of the girls.  She has taken a bunch of steps but I have not been able get them on video.  I will try tomorrow!
