Kindergarten!

It finally arrived!  Kindergarten.  The last three weeks of summer were packed with conversations and expectations about kindergarten.  Adeline was a little nervous but equally excited.

Wake County has something called "staggered entry".  All kindergarteners are divided into four groups, each has a day that they go to school to be "assessed". So, in the first week of school Adeline only went one day.  Silly, I know.  On the fifth day they go back and find out who their teacher will be for the year.

She was nervous on her assigned day but once she made it past the front door she was all business.

We were excited for her to have buddy checking in right in front of us.

And once she was in her classroom she was greeted by our next door neighbor's grandmother.  It was a perfect situation!

Reunited and it feels so gooooooooood!  This was Lillian's hug at pick-up.  She was thrilled to have her sissy back.

And then there was the second First Day of School.  This was the day that Adeline went to her real first day with her new teacher and Lillian went to her first day of 3 year old preschool.

Adeline RUNNING to her classroom.

Adeline and her teacher Mrs. Boswell.  Wish I had gotten a picture with her eyes open.  If only you could see the chaos that was going on behind me as I am taking this picture.  I had to hurry up and get the shot.

Done.  Here they are after the long first day.  They were happy, hungry, and wiped.  I am so thankful for a great start to the school year!

The Summer Sum Up

We did a lot in the last few weeks of summer.  We have soaked up every last drop of this season.
Here is a run down of the last few weeks of summer...

Adeline and I took a day trip to High Point to my cousin Deane's children's clothes consignment sale. It is fabulous and always very productive.  This year I decided to take Adeline along since she has a very particular opinion about what she will and will not wear.  She found a lot of things that she liked, especially the huge stuffed pony.   Best part of the trip was this cute picture of Adeline with Jack and Welles, her second cousins.  They were pretty cute!

We had a lot of  tea parties on the back porch.

We celebrated Lindsey and her birthday!

One afternoon Luke came home and asked Adeline is she wanted to go play golf with him.  She jumped at the chance.  He told her to go get dressed...this is how she came downstairs, cowboy boots and baby doll in hand.  We tried not make a big deal about it but I had to capture the moment.  She said she played really well in her boots.

We took a picnic to the park one day.  These were the things she packed in her bag.  I laughed when she started to unpack all her goodies.  Clearly all necessities for a picnic.

We spent a day at the museum in Durham with some of our best friends.

Adeline got a pre-kindergarten vacation with Doc and Teeny.  Here they are at the trade-off in Hillsborough.  Lillian was miffed that she was not going to get her own vacation.  She was smiling in her mimi.

The only picture I took at the pool.  This is surprising since we spent a very large amount of time at the there.

We had another weekend at the beach.  We had dinner with our sweet Raleigh neighbors at the beach.

Adeline is getting really really good on the boogie board!

Luke and I got to get away the weekend of my birthday. The girls got a trip to Poppy and Nonni's!  The day we got back to town I got a cake that they made for me:)

(we got them princess dresses at the cracker barrel)

This was the last day before Adeline went to kindergarten.  We spent the morning at Pullen Park.  Clearly they were happy!

Luke met us for a picnic lunch and I talked him into helping us with the paddle boats.  We made it all the around the lake AND took a family selfie.  The girls promptly fell apart right after this picture.

It was a fantastic summer!  It flew by.  Even though we loved every minute I think that we are all ready to get onto a schedule again.  School day pictures  to come!
