Ballerina Adeline

Adeline had her ballet recital 3 weeks ago.  She was a dancing princess!
(that is her, second from right)

Her fan club.

Nonni was there too but scooted out before I could pull her in a picture.
Here is Adeline with her sweet friends Lucy and Margaret.

She just realized that there was a lollipop inside her bouquet.  Bonus!

Beach Week.

We just got back from a glorious, relaxing, beautiful, fun week at the beach.  We took a bunch of pictures and they tell the story of our week much better than I could with words.

We got there Friday and headed straight to the beach before the sun set.  Lillian's toes have only touched sand a few times in her life so we were interested to see how she reacted this trip.  She was a bit reluctant at first but warmed up after a few days.  Adeline, on the other hand, was elated to be at the beach!

First day on the beach was wiiiiiindy.  We brought out the kite and watched the ladybug fly!

We were happy to have some friends from Raleigh staying next door to us last weekend.  Here is Lillian and her sweet little buddy, George (also my Godson :).  They ate Goldfish while the big kids buried each other in the sand.

Not only did they eat goldfish but they also ate one whole watermelon.  Luke....well...he ate four hot dogs from the Trolley Stop.  Four hot dogs with cheese, chili and mayo.  Yes, I said mayo.  He said he used to eat that all the time when he was in college at UNCW. Blaaayuck.

Lillian got her first pair of pigtails!

Lots of beach time.  These are their FAVORITE bathing suits.  The week before we went to the beach they had to go through 7 days of intense swim lessons.  They were troopers and learned how to swim (or float in Lillian's case)!  These bathing suits were the bribe that got them in the pool everyday.  They continued to be their favorites all week at the beach.

Here they are after they found out about "periwinkles".  That is what we called the tiny shells that bury themselves in the sand when the wave washes back out.  You may have a different name for them.

Adeline and I sat on the porch swing and read books one afternoon while Lillian took her nap. Not something that I ever get to do with her anymore.  It was sweet.

And we fit in a few bike rides!  Adeline pedaled her feet off.  Lillian was a fantastic passenger.

There were tons of wonderful memories at the beach.  BUT if I had to choose two I would pick these two days when Lillian slept on my lap.  The second time Adeline curled up in the chair next to us and fell asleep too.  I sat there with both my babies snoozing and enjoyed the beach.

We had a mini photo shoot on the last evening.  Bear with me...we took a million pictures.  I could not decide which ones to post, so I posted a bunch.  We had the perfect distraction in the ocean, a kite surfer.

I got them to smile by promising purple popsicles.

Last day :(  We had only an hour before we had to head in and pack up.  Adeline made a mini spa for Lillian to treat her feet when they got sandy...we also spelled her name in the beach, bigger than life...

Lillian and Luke built a castle that Lillian promptly smooshed.

One last instagram selfie.

One more picture, only moments before we climbed in the car and headed west.

A fantastic vacation!
