Adeline's BIG night with the Governor

Technically it was Jackie and Hayes' big night with the Governor...Adeline was just invited.  In preparation for this big night, an engagement party for J and H, I tried to explain to Adeline who the Governor was and how neat her house was...I am not sure how well I explained it.  On the way to the party she asked, "so the governor is like a teacher and a grandmother, of the whole United States of America?"  I just agreed.

She found the sweets table and asked for a cookie and a chocolate ball.  I handed her both on a napkin. That is what you do a cocktail party, eat standing up, right?  Oh no, not Adeline.  She looks up at me and says "I need to eat at a table."  So we found a table.

Adeline and Governor Perdue.  She was a wonderful and gracious host!

I set her in the chair with my purse while I took some more pictures.  It was a late night, she was pooped, stayed up way past her bedtime.  She did GREAT.  We had a grand time and are thrilled for Jackie and Hayes!

The rest of the weekend

The day after.  Teeny and Doc stopped by on their way back to Randleman Saturday morning and Adeline practiced riding her bike, in the house, until it was time to go outside.

The balloons were STILL a hit.  (Lillian dragged them around until Tuesday)

My little nuggets

"I give up!"

Poppy, Nonni and the Hueys stopped by to see the birthday girl.

Lots of purple gifts from Nonni and Poppy

We took Adeline out to lunch and ran into a friend Carter.  The girls had a ball, literally.

I only took 2 pictures of Adeline on the 16th, her real birthday.    Lillian gave her Candy Land!

The Cookout

Sorry for the delay in posting the rest of the birthday pictures.  I started the post last Sunday and forgot to post it.

Uncle Weese showed up with balloons, maybe the last helium balloons in Wake County.  He called every party and grocery store in Raleigh to find someone with a helium tank.  He was a BIG hit when he showed up with balloons!

Lillian loves a "loooooon"

Someone let a balloon go...

I was surprised that Riley was able to walk upright by the end of the night, the little kids used him as a jungle gym.

Baby Spencer (not really a baby) was total entertainment...where did she go?

Minutes before the unveiling of the birthday bike...

It was a great 4th birthday!  More pictures from the weekend coming soon...

Dress-Up Tea Party

Our day started at 6:00am.  Adeline came in my room and told me that today was her birthday. In my drowsiness I explained that today was her "birthday PARTY day".  THere was no going back to bed at that point.  I had set up the tables last night so she was thrilled to see it all this morning.  She was pumped!

Lillian got a quick spin around the driveway while we waited for our friends to show up...

The girls ran around for a few minutes and then picked out a dress, "belt", and shoes to wear.  They could choose from a purple or pink. then the party started...
