Naps no mo

Luke was up late last night and when he came in our room at midnight he found Adeline sitting next to our bed playing on my cell phone.  I was in the bed, fast asleep, and completely unaware of the little stinker roaming the halls. She is like a ninja.  This made the 4th night that she had been up during the night, wide awake.  I decided that today we would try to power through our nap.  I am happy to say that she survived the afternoon with only a few tears.
We played on the playground after school with Adeline's favorite 4 year old Margaret, aka Mot Mot.

A walk around the block to enjoy the beautiful weather.....and also get her out of the house before she dismantled it from boredom.

Adeline: "Mama, I am sooo not tired."  Me: "Oh, you are not tired? Great, you push!"

She really wanted to wear her flip flops...told her that would be fine...didn't specify that socks were not necessary...did not want to rock the very tired boat.

Was asleep before I finished Dr Seuss.  Has never fallen asleep with all the lights on, and I took this picture without even waking her up.  Hoping she will sleep all night!

Meanwhile, Lillian has become our table duster...

Our weekend was...

very relaxing. We did not have anything on the calendar but our mailman's retirement (yes, it was on the calendar). We had great visits with the Hueys, Nonni n' Poppy, and the Kings.

Poppy giving Lillian a walk-about.

Joyce Huey, in town visiting the Murrays.

Riley, 9.5 and almost as tall as me.

Aunt Suesue knows the entertainment value of a pair of glasses.  Lillian promptly threw them on the ground.

Pullen Park!

This morning was all about Miss Adeline.  She had her first dentist appointment and then she and I (sans Lillian) went to the newly renovated Pullen Park.  It was a beautiful morning and we both had a ball!

1 ride on the Carousel.....had to be the pink pig

1 ride on the train

1 ride on the motor boats

1 picnic lunch

1 more ride on the carousel....the pink pig again.
Thought she was going to take out the little girl in front of her when she started toward the pink pig.

Proof that I was there too.

Before we left we had to wave to the train one more time....

She said she had to go....

A spring day in February

We spent the afternoon in the backyard.  It was a gorgeous day!

Right after I took this picture of Adeline she said (and I quote) "Is that enough, mama? The camera makes me not relax."

Here are a couple pictures from Valentine's Day when Nonni (Peggy) came by to deliver Valentine's.  Adeline does not have a bloody nose....she smelled the stamp at school and got a bit too close to the stamp.

Adeline was burning off the last of her energy today and Lillian was trying to keep up.  I watched them circle each other 10 times before I grabbed my camera. Lillian eventually gave up the race and became the squealing cheerleader.

A Very Busy Weekend....so far

We started the weekend with "Fashion Friday".  I told her that she could pick out and wear whatever she wanted on Friday. She said she could not decide between the Minnie Mouse and Dora socks so she wore one of each. I must admit that it would not have been my first choice but all the colors matched!

Friday night we celebrated our friend Lucy's birthday.  Here is her 3 year old Henry, they look sweet but are partners in CRIME!

Today we met my friend Jen for a quick visit on their way to the UNC game.  She is expecting a baby boy in June!

Our friend T Bird is celebrating his 27th birthday tonight and we stopped by for the pre-party so Adeline could deliver a balloon.

Dinner with the Barrows.  Before this pictures was taken Adeline and sweet Spencer (1.5) were running laps up and down the sidewalks at Cameron Village.

My Funny Little Valentines!

The sweetest Valentines!

Valentine's Day breakfast.

Adeline was excited about getting her "goodies" from cupid....and a hot breakfast!

Lillian was excited about the cards...to chew on.

Here is Adeline's explanation of cupid.  I was not aware that she knew who cupid was and I was about to explain it to her when she stopped me and shared her thoughts (courtesy of a conversation with Teeny).  I grabbed my phone real quick and tried to capture her repeating her description...
(please excuse her chomping on cantaloupe)

To all those who are not fully immersed in Disney princesses like we are, "Jasman" is Jasmin, the Arabian princess who is bare bellied, much like cupid :)

Valentine's Day Eve

Today we celebrated Valentine's Day, a day early, at Adeline's school.  We decorated cupcakes, painted picture frames and made heart-shaped birdseed cakes.  The kids had a great time and Adeline announced on the way home that it was her favorite day because she could wear pink and purple.  The funny part is that she wears those colors every single day!

A perfect day for puffy jackets.

A perfect afternoon to snuggle on the couch.

The littlest bean.  Finally feeling better!

I will take more pictures tomorrow of the actual Valentine's Day festivities.

My favorite part of February

This is a cute picture of the girls but the reason behind it is the flower behind it.  My daphne bush has bloomed!  My favorite scent in the world, brings back tons of memories.  Mom had them planted next to our front door in High Point.....MUCH bigger than these beginners.  Adeline squished the little bloom between her fingers, smelled it and said "yum". We are working on her delicate green fingers.

Lenten Rose transplanted from Randleman

Despite our week of fevers, coughing and sleepless nights, this is our picture of sunshine and SPRING!

Pinktails!

That is what she calls pigtails. I have always kept Adeline's hair short but lately she won't let me cut it. This morning before dance she asked if I would help her with her "Pinktails". I just checked on her in her bed and both tails are still in...barely. I bet she will want them again tomorrow!

Mama, look at the baby!

Today Lillian is 10 months old!  Hard to believe.  As I was getting dressed this morning she and Adeline were playing on the floor.  I went to shut the door, which has a mirror on the back, and Lillian squealed in surprise.  "Mama, look at the baby!" is what she would have said. She entertained herself for 20 mins looking and touching the mirror.  She talked, danced, pat-a-caked, and smooched her "friend".  Adeline thought it was all quite silly.  I got some cute pictures of big sis too but am having trouble uploading them....more to come.

Stir Crazy

Poor Adeline has been down with a bad cough and fever for three days. Lillian and I are feeling pretty good but have been stuck inside. I am running out of things to do to entertain them....this morning we played "beauty parlor". I let Adeline paint my toes (green, really?!?!) and I painted hers. And Lillian got her hair done too!
